On Monday, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, inaugurated a state-of-the-art multipurpose indoor sports hall in Khour, Jammu. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing sports infrastructure in the border areas of the Union Territory.
During the inauguration, Sharma emphasized the government’s commitment to provide modern, accessible, and inclusive sports facilities to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that special attention is focused on rural and border regions. The aim is to foster a strong sports culture, discipline, and healthy lifestyles among the younger population.
“Quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level plays a crucial role in identifying and nurturing talent,” Sharma stated. “Our mission is to ensure no talented youth misses out on opportunities due to insufficient facilities.”
The newly inaugurated indoor sports hall boasts world-class facilities designed to accommodate multiple sports disciplines. The complex features three badminton courts, six table tennis courts, a volleyball court, two judo courts, along with two wrestling courts and kabaddi courts. This comprehensive training environment supports athletes of various backgrounds.
Sharma also took time to engage with local youth and sportspersons, urging them to utilize these facilities for their athletic development. He reassured attendees that the government will prioritize the enhancement of sports infrastructure, youth engagement, and talent promotion across Jammu and Kashmir.
The inauguration of this indoor sports hall is poised to significantly boost sporting activities in the Khour area and surrounding regions. With access to modern and world-class facilities, young athletes can train closer to home, paving the way for future sporting success.
