Ramban, September 30: Taking strict action against the illegal transportation of bovine animals, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Ramban has suspended the Registration Certificates (RCs) of four vehicles found involved in bovine smuggling.

The RCs of vehicles bearing registration numbers JK19A-7806, JK19A-1386, JK19A-8765, and JK19A-1487 have been suspended for a period of four months, and the Police Department has been asked to seize the vehicles.

This action was initiated following detailed recommendations from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, after repeated violations and registration of FIRs against the said vehicles.

The ARTO Ramban stated that the step has been taken to ensure strict enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act and to curb unlawful activities that pose a threat to public order.

Meanwhile, the ARTO Ramban also issued show cause notices to the owners of several vehicles allegedly involved in bovine smuggling for suspension or cancellation of their Registration Certificates (RCs) and permits.

The Police and Transport Department reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards illegal activities and appealed to vehicle owners to strictly comply with statutory regulations to avoid such punitive measures.
